Iftest Opens Its Doors to Future Electrical Engineers
Around 40 aspiring electrical engineering students from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) in Windisch, Canton Aargau, visited IFTEST AG at its Wettingen site on May 22.
As part of the “Student Day”, the students gained insight through presentations and guided tours of the production facilities into the extensive development and manufacturing expertise required for modern electronics. The visitors were particularly impressed by the flexibility and efficiency of development and production at IFTEST. The development tools, the state-of-the-art machinery, and the wide range of job opportunities also made a strong impression on the participants.

New PCB Layout Design Module at FHNW
The School of Engineering at FHNW in Windisch has redesigned the “PCB Design” module in its Electrical and Information Engineering program. In this context, the visit to IFTEST provided an ideal opportunity for Prof. Dr. Pascal Schleuniger of FHNW to connect theory with practice.
“IFTEST is an excellent example of an innovative and forward-looking company. During the visit, the students were able to experience firsthand how important the interaction between design and production is in the development of complex electronics. This insight enabled them to gain a great deal of knowledge in a short time and raised their awareness of electronics assembly design as part of their studies,” says Prof. Dr. Schleuniger.
He was also impressed by the high level of expertise with which IFTEST offers the entire value chain from start to finish — from consulting to the packaging of finished devices..
Complexity and Miniaturization Require Specialized Expertise
Modern electronic assemblies are becoming increasingly complex and miniaturized. For a technology company in Switzerland, strong development expertise and flexibility in production are therefore of crucial importance. Recruiting the specialists with a high level of knowledge in microelectronics required for this is a major challenge.
With the Student Day for future electrical engineers pursuing a bachelor’s degree, IFTEST presented itself as an innovative company and a future-oriented employer. Some of the participants could easily imagine working in an exciting role at IFTEST after successfully completing their bachelor’s degree.
