The newly published whitepaper (only available in German) describes the fundamentals of the 3D system used by Iftest for automatic optical inspection (AOI), produced by the Korean company Koh Young Technology Inc., and compares it with older 2D technology. The comprehensively researched whitepaper provides a detailed overview of the assembly errors that can be identified via AOI and describes how the SMT assembly process can be optimised regarding maximum process stability and cost efficiency. In addition, the whitepaper touches on the limits of AOI systems and describes, with reference to the Iftest practice, how the quality assurance process can be usefully supplemented by further testing procedures (e.g. with x-ray microscopy or electric testing procedures).

Since May 2018, Iftest has been using a new-generation x-ray microscope to enhance quality assurance and process monitoring in electronics manufacturing. The addition complements the existing quality assurance tools, such as the 3D Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) system and a series of other electronic testing techniques, to provide customers with guaranteed top-quality products.

Health surveillance for patients at home, permanent monitoring for high blood pressure and insect bite prevention: at an INSIGHT event organised by Iftest and the Swiss Medtech association, the focus was on concrete applications in the area of digital health.

Iftest apprentices Vanessa Petrovic and Alessio Loppo have completed their commercial apprenticeships with flying colours – congratulations! The two young businesspeople form part of Iftest’s long history of successful apprenticeships. The company takes on two new commercial apprentices and two new apprentice electronics engineers each year.

Over the last few years, Iftest has been able to achieve a sustained increase in efficiency thanks to the systematic introduction of LEAN concepts. On 7 June 2018, alumni of the Higher College of Technology Mittelland (HFTM) came for a tour of the company conducted together with experts from LEANCOM, to learn how this was achieved.
